Types Of Septic Systems To Know About
If you’re like most people, you only think about your septic system when it needs septic tank services. And, even then, you may only know the basics about septic tank pumping and what can go wrong. But did you know that there are several different types of septic systems? Each has its advantages, so it’s important to select the right one for your needs.
This blog post will introduce you to the most common types of septic systems. We’ll also discuss each type so you can make an informed decision when it comes time to replace or repair your septic system. So let’s get started!
Septic Systems Available
One of the cons of rural living is that you have to deal with septic systems. There are a few different types of septic systems, such as:
Drip Distribution System:Â The DDS is an effluent dispersal used in many drain fields; it distributes wastewater evenly and efficiently through tubes with flow regulating emitters.
Aerobic Treatment Unit:Â ATUs use oxygen to break down organic matter, much like municipal wastewater treatment systems, but in a scaled-down version.
Mound Systems:Â These are a viable option in locations with shallow soil depth, high groundwater, or shallow bedrock. The dug-out sand mound has a drain field trench within.
Recirculating Sand Filter System:Â These systems can be constructed above or below ground.
Evapotranspiration System:Â These systems work best in very specific conditions: an arid climate with lots of heat and sunlight.
Constructed Wetland System:Â They are created to act like natural wetlands and use the same processes to clean water; the system can be gravity or pressure fed.
Cluster / Community System:Â This type of water treatment system is owned by a community or municipality that collects wastewater from multiple homes or buildings.
